Facebook Timeline Switchover And New Photo View On The Cards

Some of you may start to notice a couple of changes to the layout of your Facebook profiles over the next few weeks and months.

Firstly, anyone who has not yet voluntarily switched over to the Timeline profile design can expect Facebook to do this automatically by the end of the year. According to TechCrunch, by waiting for more and more people to make the change themselves, Facebook is hoping to take the sting out of any backlash when people eventually don’t have a say on the matter. They will however get a 7-day warning before their accounts update to the Timeline – this should give people time to curate their old content and posts before their Timeline goes live and everything becomes visible to their friends.

But the second change that you will see sooner, relates to the presentation of your photos. Larger photos appearing in feeds and on Timelines has been happening for some time now, but Facebook are rolling out an enhanced image-viewing platform. When you (or a friend) click on Photos on your profile, larger pictures will fill up the page, as this screen grab from Mashable shows:

You’ll also be able to mark certain photos as favourites, which the social network feels will make it easier for people to share with friends. In a blog post yesterday, Facebook said: “With your Facebook photos all in one section, it’s simple to show friends your favorites. Click the star button to make important photos stand out.”

How many of you are already on the Timeline profile design? And what do all of you think of the new photo layout? Make your voice heard by leaving a comment below.
